11 March 2025 – Scientific discussion on Land subsidence in Deltaic Areas It was an honour to participate at the Scientific discussion on Land subsidence in Deltaic Areas held between 11 to 16 March at the Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology in Vietnam. It was a great occasion to arrange discussions, research presentations, and networking opportunities between expert in the field of land subsidence in delta regions.
15 February 2025 – Upcoming workshop of the RESTORE project It is a pleasure to invite all the stakeholders of the RESTORE project to join us in the workshop ‘Vulnerabilità e resilienza delle morfologie lagunari alla subsidenza e all’innalzamento del livello marino in laguna di Venezia’, which will be held on 2 April, 2025 at the Palazzo Grandi Stazioni, in Venice.

8 November 2024 – First West African International Workshop On Coastal Land Subsidence We had the pleasure of participating at the “First West African International Workshop On Coastal Land Subsidence” held in Accra, Ghana from 4th to 8th November. It was the occasion to present impacts and hazards of land subsidence in the Venice lagoon, and the modelling accounting for uncertainties.
3 October 2024 – CMWR 2024 Meeting We had the pleasure of participating at CMWR 2024: The Conference on Computational Methods in Water Resources, held in Tucson, Arizona from 30 September to 3 October. It was the occasion to present two contributions dealing with novel computational tools to simulate multiple physical processes simultaneously.
27-28 September 2024 – Science4ALL: La festa delle science a Padova On September 27-28, we took part with enthusiasm in the Science4ALL event in Padova, engaging the public with simple experiments to raise awareness about the characteristics and fragility of lagoon environments. Visitors of all ages explored the bio- and geo-diversity of lagoons and learned about the threats they face, such as pollution and climate change, through interactive activities.
5 September 2024 – Congresso congiunto SGI-SIMP We greatly appreciated the opportunity to contribute to the SGI-SIMPs’ scientific conference titled “Geology for a sustainable management of our Planet”, held in Bari from 2 to 5 September. The presentation dealt with autocompaction processes and their role as driver of coastal depositional environments.
1 August 2024 – Welcome! We warmly welcome Dr. Marta Cosma in our team as a fixed-term researcher at CNR-IGG! With her expertise on coastal depositional systems she will contribute to achieve RESTORE objectives and results.
24 July 2024 – LASII UNESCO ANNUAL MEETING It was an honour to participate at the Scientific Meeting “Insight Best Practice of Management against Land Subsidence Disaster” during the LASII UNESCO ANNUAL MEETING 2024 held in Jakarta from 23 to 25 July. It was the occasion to present past and recent perspective on land subsidence in Italian coasts, among which the Venice lagoon case is probably the most famous.
22 April 2024 – EGU Annual meeting We had the pleasure of participating at the EGU Annual meeting 2024 held in Vienna from 14 to 19 April. We had the chance to present the RESTORE project approach and discuss it with many geoscientists from all over the world!
