26 June 2025 -International Meeting of Sedimentology We were honoured to take part in the 38th International Meeting of Sedimentology, held in Huelva, Spain, from 26 to 28 June 2025. The event provided a fantastic opportunity to share insights from the RESTORE project, focusing on the Holocene evolution of the Venice Lagoon.
19 June 2025 – Conference on Large-Scale Scientific Computations We greatly appreciated the opportunity to contribute to the 15th International Conference on Large-Scale Scientific Computations, held in Sozopol (Bulgaria) between16-20 June, 2025. It was a great occasion to present advances in multi-physics and multi-domain simulations of coupled poromechanics developed within the framework of RESTORE project.
17 June 2025 – Taiwan Geoscience Assembly It was an honour to participate at the Taiwan Geoscience Assembly: “Climate and Environmental Changes: Emerging Horizons in Earth Sciences, held in Tiapei from 16-19 June. It was the occasion to present a new perspective on Venice’s vulnerability to land subsidence and sea-level rise.

16 May 2025 – 1st Italian workshop on subsidence It was a pleasure to take part in the first Italian workshop on subsidence, held in Modena (Italy), which brought together the national scientific community along with local and national authorities to discuss the natural and anthropogenic impacts of subsidence on alluvial and coastal plains. During the event, we had the opportunity to present the RESTORE project, highlighting our work on subsidence and the vulnerability of the Venice Lagoon. The workshop provided a valuable platform for exchanging knowledge and strengthening collaboration among researchers and stakeholders.
29 April 2025 – EGU Annual meeting 2025 We were excited to return to the EGU General Assembly, held in Vienna from 27 April to 2 May 2025. This year, we had the opportunity to present our ongoing work on vulnerability analysis of the tidal morphologies in the Venice Lagoon.
2 April 2025 – Workshop for RESTORE project stakeholder The workshop “Vulnerabilità e resilienza delle morfologie lagunari alla subsidenza e all’innalzamento del livello marino in laguna di Venezia” was held in Venice as part of the RESTORE project. It was a valuable opportunity to share project results and discuss future perspectives with local stakeholders. The event focused on the impacts of subsidence and sea-level rise on lagoon morphologies, emphasizing the importance of resilience and sustainable management of the Venice Lagoon.
11 March 2025 – Scientific discussion on Land subsidence in Deltaic Areas It was an honour to participate at the Scientific discussion on Land subsidence in Deltaic Areas held between 11 to 16 March at the Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology in Vietnam. It was a great occasion to arrange discussions, research presentations, and networking opportunities between expert in the field of land subsidence in delta regions.
15 February 2025 – Upcoming workshop of the RESTORE project It is a pleasure to invite all the stakeholders of the RESTORE project to join us in the workshop ‘Vulnerabilità e resilienza delle morfologie lagunari alla subsidenza e all’innalzamento del livello marino in laguna di Venezia’, which will be held on 2 April, 2025 at the Palazzo Grandi Stazioni, in Venice.

8 November 2024 – First West African International Workshop On Coastal Land Subsidence We had the pleasure of participating at the “First West African International Workshop On Coastal Land Subsidence” held in Accra, Ghana from 4th to 8th November. It was the occasion to present impacts and hazards of land subsidence in the Venice lagoon, and the modelling accounting for uncertainties.
3 October 2024 – CMWR 2024 Meeting We had the pleasure of participating at CMWR 2024: The Conference on Computational Methods in Water Resources, held in Tucson, Arizona from 30 September to 3 October. It was the occasion to present two contributions dealing with novel computational tools to simulate multiple physical processes simultaneously.
27-28 September 2024 – Science4ALL: La festa delle science a Padova On September 27-28, we took part with enthusiasm in the Science4ALL event in Padova, engaging the public with simple experiments to raise awareness about the characteristics and fragility of lagoon environments. Visitors of all ages explored the bio- and geo-diversity of lagoons and learned about the threats they face, such as pollution and climate change, through interactive activities.
5 September 2024 – Congresso congiunto SGI-SIMP We greatly appreciated the opportunity to contribute to the SGI-SIMPs’ scientific conference titled “Geology for a sustainable management of our Planet”, held in Bari from 2 to 5 September. The presentation dealt with autocompaction processes and their role as driver of coastal depositional environments.
1 August 2024 – Welcome! We warmly welcome Dr. Marta Cosma in our team as a fixed-term researcher at CNR-IGG! With her expertise on coastal depositional systems she will contribute to achieve RESTORE objectives and results.
24 July 2024 – LASII UNESCO ANNUAL MEETING It was an honour to participate at the Scientific Meeting “Insight Best Practice of Management against Land Subsidence Disaster” during the LASII UNESCO ANNUAL MEETING 2024 held in Jakarta from 23 to 25 July. It was the occasion to present past and recent perspective on land subsidence in Italian coasts, among which the Venice lagoon case is probably the most famous.
22 April 2024 – EGU Annual meeting We had the pleasure of participating at the EGU Annual meeting 2024 held in Vienna from 14 to 19 April. We had the chance to present the RESTORE project approach and discuss it with many geoscientists from all over the world!
